Who is Jerry Bestpitch?

Like a pioneer of the old west Jerry and family left their home in Buffalo, N.Y. seeking the riches of opportunity that California has promised the last 150 years. Growing up on the extreme frontier edge of Sacramento Jerry enjoyed the country.

Jerry started his aviation career with the air force at 18 which allowed him to afford his start with horses. Riding daily and also attending various college equine programs he also became a certified farrier at age 20. While pursuing his aviation career he joined the U.S. Coast Guard Air Rescue.

Jerry ended up first being assigned to the Navy where he worked on the Lazy Anchor Ranch in Tennessee as a cowboy and wrangler becoming the l973 Navy all round rodeo champion.

  • Gibson Ranch Country Park Stablemaster and  Master Concessionaire. 

  • OLD WEST PUMPKIN PATCH production 1988 to present. 

  • Head Wrangler and actor/stuntman for stage play SOMETHING IN THE VALLEY l989/1991.

  • Assistant head wrangler and stuntman motion picture Dead Man's Revenge l992.

  • Assistant Head Wrangler and stuntman  motion picture A Father for Charlie l994. 

  • Member Screen Actors Guild.

  • Past Vice President and board of director Highway 50 Association.

  • California State Gymkanna overall AAA 1998 champion  district 5.

  • President Sierra Ghost Riders l998. 

  • Head  Wrangler AQHA 1998 California Ride. 

  • California State Gymkanna AAA champion 1999.

 

 

Back to flying with the Coast Guard, Jerry was decorated for the dramatic rescue of ten people off a sinking vessel in a severe storm off the coast of Oregon. Jerry was credited with over 100 life saving rescues during his career. During this time Jerry also pursued a pro rodeo career with the PRCA riding rough stock.

In 1978 Jerry returned home to the Sacramento area to a little town called Elverta which became the head quarters for the JB Ranch  offering western adventures in the finest tradition the old west could offer. Jerry has acted and performed stunts in many western pictures and has been portrayed as a pony express man in many western activities and commercials. Jerry has also been a consultant and expert in many horse related subjects for movies, litigation, and trail surveys.
